Learn from the past and build a brighter future: a very fitting motto to live by in architecture. The Nest’s tall and slender design, for instance, is a nod to the original narrow corner plots of the city of Warsaw, Poland. Only three metres wide at the base of its front façade, the prominent office building looks as light as a feather. Reynaers Aluminium curtain wall solutions create this marvellous urban mirror you just cannot look away from.

With its length of 27 metres, fully clad with glass panels, The Nest both stands out of and fits in with the city’s street plan perfectly. Overhangs at the ground floor keep the intersection of the two flanking streets visible for all traffic. Visibility is an important factor for Piotr Bzdel, project architect for Grupa 5 Architekci: “Subtle shifts in the glass panels allow you to admire the reflections of the local architecture at different angles. The tall and tilted façades reflect the surrounding architecture beautifully from whichever angle you approach them.

The Nest is as transparent as it is reflective, a light bubble and a solid mirror in one. Architect Bzdel explains how he created the lightness in the building’s design: “Our approach to elevation design allows projects to perfectly complement their surroundings, while being an entity of their own. For example, The Nest’s offset glass boxes alternate in their external finish, which is clearly visible when you look at the building in the sunlight.” The result: a visual spectacle.

For the curtain wall glazing, the architects selected the Reynaers Aluminium ConceptWall 50-High Insulation (HI) system. The even distribution of profiles in the design required a great deal of installation precision. But thanks to our quality solution, the front façade features bigger profiles at the street intersection, while more slender profiles cover the sides of the building.

Warsaw is known for its warm summers and ice-cold winters and to cope with the variation in temperature, you need highly insulating elements.
