BFRC Energy Ratings at your fingertips

The British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC) was established to drive improved energy performance in British glazing. Today, their ‘rainbow’ energy ratings are the most well known and trusted in the industry. We are a BFRC Approved Manufacturer which means our products now have a BFRC Energy Efficiency Rating.

How BFRC ratings work across the supply chain

  • BFRC labels: Are comprised of heat loss, solar gain, and air leakage, all assessed in strict accordance with EN and ISO standards
  • System Houses: Use BFRC ratings to prove the performance of their components
  • Fabricators: Use BFRC ratings to prove the performance of the window or door systems they sell
  • Installers: Use BFRC ratings to prove the value of their recommendations
  • Homeowners: Use BFRC ratings to know the product will perform as promised
The benefits of proving performance with BFRC energy ratings spread like a domino effect, cascading down the entire supply chain, the end goal being that you as a fabricator or installer can prove the performance of Reynaers products all the way down to homeowners.

Are you a Fabricator?

You can use BFRC ratings to prove the performance of your window and door systems to your installer network.

When your installers advise homeowners on proven energy performance, they gain their trust and can steer them towards better performing products – which benefits everyone in the supply chain.

Benefits of using a BFRC Approved Manufacturer

  • You can piggyback on BFRC ratings from your system house.
  • You can prove compliance with building regulations through energy ratings as well as u-values.
  • You can supply BFRC rated window and door units to installers, increasing their favourability.

Are you an Installer?

See the difference to your business by using BFRC Ratings to prove performance to homeowners.

Using BFRC ratings to prove the thermal efficiency of your products enhances your favourability to homeowners. Positioning your business as one who cares about more than just sales, you provide support for your customers needs too.

Benefits of using BFRC Ratings as an Installer

  • Get a competitive advantage - When homeowners choose windows and doors for their home, they can see how they'll look but not how they'll perform. That’s why it's crucial to offer BFRC rated products and advise homeowners about energy efficiency.
  • Advise customers to fit more energy efficient products - Research shows homeowners prefer being advised than to feel they're being sold to. Use BFRC ratings to give customers evidence and advice rather than a sales pitch.
  • Comply with Building Regulations - FENSA installers can have BFRC ratings free of charge when their frame supplier is BFRC registered and has the appropriate documentation.
  • Proof of performance certificate - Provide homeowners with BFRC energy performance certificates that confirm the rating details of the window products installed. A certificate can be ordered when registered your installations with FENSA.

How BFRC energy ratings work

BFRC assess the energy performance of windows and doors to give them a rating between A++ and E. The bandings on the BFRC label are the result of a complex calculation which takes into account a number of factors. Instead of just rating heat loss, it provides expert and independent assessment of the product’s complete energy performance - heat loss, solar gain and air leakage - giving you the full picture.

An 'A' rated window means that there is theoretically no energy lost through the window. The lower down the window energy rating label you go, the less energy efficient the windows and doors start to become, and the thermal loss will be greater. What was once a ‘nice to have’ in heat retention has now become a legal requirement as per Part L of the Building Regulations.
